About the Advanced English Speaking course

Do you have a reasonable level of English, but would like to speak with more confidence? In this Upper Intermediate English Speaking Course, you will work specifically on your conversation skills by discussing recognisable, everyday topics such as daily routines, work and leisure. You will practise communicative tasks such as giving your opinion, telling a story, exchanging information and summarising a point. The focus lies on active speaking and listening, so that communication barriers quickly disappear. You will expand your vocabulary and your English will sound more fluent and natural.

In 9 lessons of English Speaking Skills you will be able to:

  • speak more fluently in different social situations.
  • discuss holidays and travel in detail.
  • communicate clearly about health.
  • express yourself correctly during everyday routines.
  • talk more easily about sports and leisure.
  • learn to use polite forms of communication

In this course, you will work towards language level B2. In addition, after completing the course, you will be able to participate in conversations in English with greater ease and confidence, both in your private life and at work. You will dare to speak up and respond without hesitation when having to communicate in English on the spot. You will lay a solid foundation for follow-up lessons (English Speaking Skills Advanced B2 – C1). If you have actively participated in at least 80% of the sessions, you will receive a certificate of participation from us.

Excellent instructors and engaging, interactive learning materials

Took an English course online for three months in a class of +- 15 people. The material is very engaging and current, which makes learning easier and more fun. Also, the classes are very interactive, which means you stay focused and talk a lot in English.

Approachable, good content

The step was quite big for me to start, but the entry level is very accessible. All aspects are adequately covered; speaking, listening, reading, grammar. You get good feedback. Because there is a lot of material to do independently, you can get as much out of it as you want.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know which English language level suits me?

To make sure you enrol at the right level, you can take our free placement test. This test will help you assess your current level of English. Once you’ve completed it, the test will be marked by one of our experienced teachers, who will provide you with personalised feedback. That way, you’ll know exactly which level suits you best.

Can I make up a missed English class?

Unfortunately, in group courses it is not possible to make up a missed lesson, because the lessons take place at fixed times for the whole group. Through the lesson materials, homework and lesson plan in MyBabel, you can work through the missed material independently, so that you can continue to follow the course well.

Can I pay for my English course in installments?

You pay the course fee in a single payment. You can do this upon registration via iDEAL, credit card, or by having your employer pay the invoice.

What are the advantages of a group language course?

A group language course offers the opportunity to learn and practice with others. You benefit from interactive lessons, learn from the questions and experiences of fellow students, and have plenty of opportunity to use the language actively. In addition, the group dynamic often provides extra motivation and a pleasant learning environment.

What is a virtual classroom?

A virtual classroom is a live online language course in which you take lessons together with a teacher and other students. You participate via Zoom or Teams, for example, and actively practice during the lesson. This combines the interaction of a group lesson with the convenience of online learning. Many students choose this form because of its flexibility.

How do I improve my English speaking skills?

You improve your English speaking skills primarily through active speaking and regular practice. During speaking skills training, you practice conversations from realistic situations and receive immediate feedback. As a result, you learn to respond spontaneously and communicate naturally more quickly. Many students notice increased self-confidence during conversations as a result.
