About the Exam B2+ for Medical professions – reading and writing

Did you earn your medical degree abroad and want to start working in healthcare here? To work in the Dutch healthcare sector, registration in the BIG Register is mandatory. Healthcare professionals must obtain a language certificate for this purpose. The language proficiency level for academic professions is B2+. This group of healthcare providers must obtain the B2+ language certificate in order to apply for BIG registration.

The complete exam for the B2+ language certificate consists of two tests:

  • Reading and Writing;
  • Speaking and Listening;

Reading and Writing is therefore only one part of the language certificate exam. To obtain the language certificate, you must also complete the Speaking and Listening section. If you pass both parts of the exam, you will receive your B2+ language certificate, which you can use to apply for your BIG registration.

Preparation for the exam is not included. If you are taking the exam, you already have a good command of Dutch. Want to prepare thoroughly? Babel also offers courses to help you bring your language skills up to the required level and take the exam with confidence. For example, check out the Dutch B2+ Course for Medical Professionals, which includes the language certification exam.
