This Portuguese course will increase your confidence in everyday conversations. You work toward level A2- and learn to speak, listen and express yourself better in Portuguese.
About the Portuguese 4 course
Are you ready for the next step in learning Portuguese? In the Portuguese Level 4 course, you’ll focus on developing your speaking and listening skills. You’ll gain the skills you need to understand a conversation in Portuguese, express your opinion in Portuguese, and read the Portuguese news, all without too much effort. In this course, you’ll expand your basic knowledge of Portuguese by focusing on current topics. You’ll also learn more about Portuguese traditions. Although European Portuguese differs slightly from Brazilian Portuguese, this course will also serve you well in Brazil.
In 9 Portuguese lessons:
- you can confidently hold a conversation in Portuguese;
- you express your opinion more clearly;
- you discuss the pros and cons of something;
- you talk about the past without much effort;
- you talk about your plans for the future;
- you discuss the pros and cons of something;
- you’ll expand your speaking vocabulary.
In this course, you will work toward language level A2-. By the end, you will be able to participate in conversations in Portuguese with greater ease and understand others better. You will speak more fluently, respond more quickly, and feel more confident when speaking.

This course is for anyone who wants to make a noticeable step in speaking Portuguese…. You want to connect more easily with locals and speak more confidently in everyday situations. We speak in Portuguese as much as possible during the meetings, with Dutch sometimes used in a supportive manner. During the course you will work actively and independently on your learning goals, both in class and during self-study. The course is suitable for everyone who has mastered Portuguese at level A1.

Approach
You work alternately in class, in pairs and with role plays. You will practice speaking and listening skills intensively in recognizable situations. The active lessons and the focus on real language use will increase your self-confidence in Portuguese step by step.
Teaching Materials
As a teaching method we use the book ‘Português em Foco 1’. Before the start of the course we will inform you how to order the teaching materials easily, so you can start your lesson well prepared. During the lesson we alternate between classroom teaching, pair exercises and role plays. In all of these teaching methods, the focus is on speaking and listening skills. Music and adapted exercises are widely used to promote language learning.
Teachers
You will be taught by an experienced teacher who has an eye for your learning goals and development points. You will receive targeted feedback on your use of language, pronunciation and communication. The teacher provides a safe and inspiring learning environment in which you dare to practice and make visible progress.
Certificate of Participation
You will receive a certificate of participation from us if you have actively participated in at least 80% of the meetings.
