This Portuguese course will deepen your basic knowledge of the language. You learn to express your opinion, make plans and make phone calls and speak with more confidence. You will work toward level A1.
About the Portuguese 2 course
Do you already have a basic foundation in Portuguese and want to speak with more confidence? In this course, you’ll continue to build your language skills. You’ll practice conversations on everyday topics such as family, leisure time, and plans for the future. Through practical exercises, you’ll learn to express your opinions and communicate clearly. This will make it easier for you to connect with others in Portuguese during your travels, studies, or work, and you’ll feel more confident in conversations. Although European Portuguese differs slightly from Brazilian Portuguese, this course will also serve you well in Brazil.
In 9 Portuguese lessons:
- invite someone over and talk about your free time;
- you share your opinions, instructions, and advice;
- make phone calls and talk about the weather;
- Describe your future plans and actions;
- go grocery shopping and ask for something in a friendly way;
- You describe people and talk about family.
In this course, you’ll work toward language level A1. You’ll learn to communicate with greater nuance in simple situations, and your vocabulary will grow. This will make it easier for you to have conversations with greater confidence about everyday topics such as family, plans, and leisure time. After this course, you can continue with Portuguese Course 3 (A1 → A1+). .

Who is it for?
This course is suitable for anyone with some knowledge of the Portuguese language. You want to have easier conversations while traveling or for work or study. We speak during the meetings as much as possible in Portuguese, where Dutch is sometimes used in a supporting way. During the course you work actively and independently on your learning goals, both in class and during self-study. The course is suitable for everyone who has mastered Portuguese at level A1.

Our teaching method combines a structured approach with hands-on working methods. The lessons are active, personal, varied and practical. There is always attention for your learning style, pace and level. Curious about how we design this course?
Approach
During the meetings you work a lot in small groups or pairs, always under the guidance of an experienced teacher. You practice using role plays and simulations with recognizable situations from everyday life, so that you learn to put Portuguese into practice immediately. You will also give feedback on each other’s work. This is not only instructive for the other, but also for yourself. During the last lesson you will have a final test in which all knowledge is repeated: grammar and vocabulary exercises.
Teaching Materials
As a teaching method we use the book ‘Português em Foco 1’. Before the start of the course we will inform you how to order the teaching material easily, so that you can start your lesson well prepared. Besides the book, the teacher sometimes hands out extra material in class and we work with music. A nice change!
Teachers
You will be taught by an experienced teacher who will personally guide you and help you get the best out of yourself. The open atmosphere allows you to learn not only from the teacher, but also from the experiences of other students.
Certificate of Participation
You will receive a certificate of participation from us if you have actively participated in at least 80% of the meetings.
