German 1 (A2- → A2)
With this German course you will refresh your basic knowledge and work toward A2 level. You will learn to speak, write and understand simple texts so that you can communicate more confidently in everyday situations.
About the German 1 course
Are you planning to study at a German university? Or work for a German-speaking employer? Or do you frequently interact with German-speaking guests or business associates at work and want to brush up on the German you learned in high school? In this course, you’ll focus on improving your speaking, reading, and writing skills. You’ll also be introduced to German culture and the differences between Germany and the Netherlands. This will help you build a solid foundation in German and feel more confident when interacting with German speakers.
In 9 German lessons:
- you can speak and write in German about everyday topics;
- you’ll understand simple German texts better;
- you’ll discover key differences between Dutch and German culture;
- you will gain insight into the cultural diversity within German-speaking countries;
- you lay a solid linguistic foundation for further development.
In this course, you will work toward language level A2. By the end of the course, you will be able to participate more easily in simple conversations, write more clearly about everyday topics, and better understand basic information in German. After completing this course, you can continue with the German Course 2 (A2 → A2+).

Approach
Each lesson begins with a brief discussion of homework. Then you work alternately in class, in groups or individually on interactive assignments. An important part of the course are speaking exercises in pairs, so that you use German actively and build up your confidence.
Teaching Materials
You work with the book ‘Spektrum’ for language level A2+. This book is specially developed for adult learners and is supported with online exercises. For self-study you will receive teaching materials and assignments, which will be discussed during the meetings. Before the start of the course we will inform you how you can easily order the learning material, so that you can start your lesson well prepared.
Teachers
You will be taught by an experienced teacher who has an eye for your learning goals and development points. You will receive targeted feedback on your language use and pronunciation, so that you will learn to communicate more confidently and fluently.
Certificate of Participation
You will receive a certificate of participation from us if you have actively participated in at least 80% of the meetings.
