Course Administration

Babel handles personal data with the utmost care and confidentiality. We comply with the requirements imposed on us by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Babel stores necessary data about (former) course participants, clients, employees, examination candidates, and organizations. The collection and storage of data is intended to organize, promote, and evaluate Babel’s services.

Only the following data is stored about course participants:

  • name, address, city, country, gender, date of birth, email address, phone number;
  • course registrations and payment-related data;
  • course results and attendance;
  • data relating to paying institutions (name/address/city, contact persons); or DUO (BSN, contract, loan);
  • level test and/or report of intake interview.

Your data may be used by Babel to inform you about our services and products. Mailings always include an unsubscribe link (opt-out). If you have any questions, you can contact Babel at privacy@babel.nl.

No data is shared with third parties unless:

  • this is necessary for the execution of an agreement;
  • this is required as a result of a legal obligation;
  • this is done with the consent of the person concerned;
  • institutions with a public law task request it.

Data is not retained longer than necessary for the purposes mentioned above, with a maximum of ten years after completing the last programme. (Former) course participants, clients, employees, examination candidates, and companies have the right to request the information registered about them and to have it deleted if desired.

Data is stored digitally in highly secured databases. Only those Babel employees who require access for the proper functioning of the organization have access to the data. In addition, all persons who have access to the data are bound by a confidentiality obligation.

Functional Cookies

Functional cookies are cookies that are placed to ensure a website functions properly. These cookies remember, for example, your language setting so you don’t have to set it again after each visit.

Mailchimp
We use these cookies to register whether or not you wish to subscribe to the newsletter. We make use of Mailchimp’s services. Through these cookies we can remember your preference, so you will not receive new notifications when you visit the website. You can read Mailchimp’s privacy policy here.

Online training and communication
Courses are (partly) delivered online. During the use of the websites and software for this purpose, session cookies are stored on your computer; these are automatically deleted when the browser is closed.

YouTube
The website makes use of embedded content from YouTube. A number of cookies are stored for proper functioning and security. Please also read Google’s privacy policy here.

reCAPTCHA
To protect the forms on the website against spam bots, reCAPTCHA is used. Based on the behavior and characteristics of the visitor and browser, each visit is assigned a risk score, which determines whether additional checks are required. This data is processed by reCAPTCHA for the functioning of and improvements to the service. Data is also stored in the browser as part of this process.

HubSpot
Our website is connected to HubSpot. Forms you fill in on the website are automatically processed in HubSpot, so that Babel can follow up on your request and serve you as well as possible. Please also read HubSpot’s privacy policy here.

Analytical and Marketing Cookies

Analytical cookies help us improve the website and display personalized advertisements based on your website usage. Through the use of analytical cookies, Babel can further optimize its website and better align it with the wishes of visitors. Babel uses the following analytical and marketing cookies:

Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager
We use Google Analytics to measure and analyze visitor behavior. To protect your privacy, we have configured Google Analytics in a privacy-friendly manner. To provide you with personalized offers, for example on other websites, we use Google Tag Manager.

  • We have concluded a data processing agreement with Google.
  • We use Anonymize IP, whereby the last octet of the IP address is masked before it is stored at Google.
  • Data retention is set to 26 months. After that period, the collected data is automatically deleted at Google.
  • If, despite all measures taken, you still do not want us to track your behavior anonymously, there is an opt-out option. Google has developed a special add-on for Chrome that you can install in your browser. Download the Google Analytics Opt-Out Add-On here. It is also possible to opt out of Google cookies by changing Google’s ad settings. Finally, you can visit the Network Advertising Initiative page to opt out of cookies.

Facebook
To display relevant advertisements on Facebook, we use a Facebook pixel. This pixel is used for:

  • Analyzing the results of advertisements.
  • Remarketing. Former website visitors are followed up via the cookie that has been placed. Relevant advertisements are shown to them on Facebook.
  • Creating audiences. Based on the data of our website visitors, we create similar audiences in Facebook’s advertising system.

LinkedIn
To display relevant advertisements on LinkedIn, we use a LinkedIn pixel. This pixel is used for:

Hotjar
With this cookie we can measure specific pages for scrolling, viewing, and clicking behavior in order to improve certain pages. We can also use this cookie to display forms such as polls on specific pages.

  • We have concluded a data processing agreement with Hotjar.
  • Hotjar stores this information in a pseudo-anonymized user profile. Neither Hotjar nor we will ever use this information to identify individual users or to link it to further data of an individual user.
  • Data retention for users and events is set to 1 year. After that period, the collected data is automatically deleted.

Olark Livechat
These cookies from Olark Livechat allow us to assist visitors via live chat.

  • We have concluded a data processing agreement with Olark.
  • Olark does not store the IP addresses of visitors.
